Remarks on the diagram:
The system
comprises the typical way of living and behavior as well as the complete
collective knowledge in a wet rice cultivation and water culture system, the
Tai core complex culture, which I call the "baan-müang system”.
This is only
a very rough diagram of the general structure of the cultural system of the Tai
peoples. Each of the sub-systems presented here are interlinked with every
other sub-system. Many other conceivable and existing sub-systems as well as
interlinkages are left out here and must be included in a more comprehensive
diagram, and in the thinking of the researcher on Tai studies.
Interlinkages are communication
lines and interactions.
[1] Though
this diagram was already included in the editorial of TAI CULTURE, Vol. VII-2,
December 2002, but I nevertheless think it is important to directly make it available
at the www in a special website dedicated to studies in the Tai world.
